I loooooveed this movie. Got to see it in 3D. I can kind of forgive Cameron for the Ass wipe Titanic. I am so going to see it again. Although it did go for 2hrs 40 mins it didn't drag at all.

Totally agree!! I saw it in 2D (we don't have a 3D theater around here), but I still thought it was awesome!
BTW - did anyone else get an Aliens flashback the first time Sigourney Weaver was on screen?

Absolutely agree. We took all 6 kiddos last week and it was a total hit.

HOLY SHIT! SIX FUCKING KIDS!!!!!! You are my new hero ma'am.

Hahahaha Yes, that'd be part of the reason my visits are short and sporadic. Our youngest just turned 5 months old Christmas Eve.

Saw it in 3D on Monday. That blue alien chick is fucking hot.... Her tits are kinda small though. I realize that she's 12 feet tall and they are probably bigger than most human titties... But proportionately to her body they are pretty tiny. Being able to fly crazy pterodactyl monsters totally makes up for it though.

Yeah, I have a thought about that... As someone who is well endowed & is also fairly physically active, I know exactly how much of a pain running & jumping around would be will big tits - not fun.

Fave comment from one of my geekier buddies - "How convenient that they all have organic USB ports." I almost lost it in the middle of the theater.

*snicker* Oh that was just awesome!
I haven't seen it yet but from what i've been reading here and other places, I'm definitely going to. More than likely though, i'll wait until iit comes out on DVD or something, but I will see it sometime!

I highly recommend catching it in the theatre. 3D or Imax would be awesome but I imagine even normal mode is still pretty spiffy. It's just one of those movies that are made for big screen viewing. Granted, I'm sure we'll watch it multiple times more once it's out on DVD but I'm glad we got to see it while in theatres.

Yep I really enjoyed it, the effects were fantastic and I was weirdly attracted to the aliens.

You're not the only one - I found a blue Sam Worthington with pointy ears strangely hot...

Ditto.... only for Zoe Saldana. I would totally bone that giant blue bitch.

I still just have no interest in seeing this movie. Dunno, just doesn't look interesting and the effects aren't enough to get me to sit through it. Looks like Pocahontas with blue, furry people.

It isn't bad and the 3D is nice. That said: I still hate the stupid 3D glasses because they're too big and heavy and in the end the movie was about what would happen if smurfs were 8 foot tall and seriously pissed off.

I totally flashed back to that!

Now I get what you said.
Shrooms, I don't know what kind of movies you're into, but I have to say that Avatar is probably the best movie I have seen in a long time. The graphics are mind blowing; the story is both good, and sad.
It's one of those movies that totally absorbed me. That's basically how I determine how much I like a movie; if I am 'in the movie' so to speak, I know it was good. The fact that it was nearly 3 hours didn't really bother me like many other movies.
I am very glad a guy at work talked me into seeing it in 3D XD as that seriously added to the enjoyment. The awesome flying sequences were awesome on that huge screen.
I will definitely buy the BluRay when available............

I thought it was a brilliant film. My main issue was simply:
1: When Sigourney Weaver first demanded a cigarette in a desperate manner, I was gone. Craving nicotine up to my eyeballs. I ended up rolling (I hand roll mine) 23 cigarettes by the end of the film. It helps distract myself by being active with my hands.
My minor issue was that the 3D strains my eyes over time and they ended up completely red and sore as fuck.

I ended up with a minor headache by the end of the film.
Visually it was great.. but story wise i'd say it was kinda blah.. Inglorious Basterds had a better overall story. .

The sheer volume of the theater was a bit much.....

I thought seeing it in theaters was IT!
"no way it's be this good on any home media format"
But seeing it on full 1080p Blu Ray is just as breathtaking.
there's even a lil insert that claims "This is the movie Blu Ray was MADE for"
can't say i disagree

I bought the BluRay the day it came out (happened to be at the store anyway) but still haven't watched it at home......

Same with many people i know, they buy it and still havent watched it
I watched it the same day i bought it, which was the day it came out,
I didnt even know until the guy told me.
And i got The Dark Knight on Blu Ray for nine bucks as part of a promotional thing with Avatar.
Fun times.
